This is a tricky one. This may in fact be a broad-billed hummingbird. The two look very similar, and I’ve seen them elsewhere on the trip. But, this one seems to have more blue on its body, extended farther down, which is an indicator. Still, these guys move quickly and that could just be a trick of the light. The ranges are different but have some overlap and both like similar types of areas. The broad-billed I saw was at a lower elevation.
I’m going to start with identifying this as a separate bird, but if someone with more knowledge can tell, please let me know.
